To Lawyer A. T. Edjua (a tribute) |
April 5, 2013 |
Andy Edjua was a vibrant lawyer
who started off as a dedicated teacher.
When he had a hunch he could serve his kin better
by doing something big and bigger,
he joined the race to become a lawyer:
a profession he upheld was far fairer
than all others that think they're learned.
He was the first to take the law to Mamfe,
where he made the people proud of their own lawyer.
Since that sad Saturday, they weep for their dear lawyer
who sadly was the last of the great trio - the Mamfe trio.

SLEEP IN PEACE AND REST, PAPA LAWYER |
April 4, 2013 |
There is time for everything under the sun! Time to be born and time to return! We thank God for the life of Papa Edjua (Papa Lawyer). As a young Mass server in St Joseph's Parish, Mamfe! I knew this papa who will hardly miss Sunday Mass and was always there for Church activities. A very strict and diciplined pa who will always call us to order when we mishandled "holy things" or did not perform well in our duties as altar boys! Papa always used every opportunity to advise any youth that crossed his path! He was a no nonsense person and so never allowed his lone daughter, the queen and angel, Ange Edjua (Now Mrs Enow Angeline nee Edjua) to stray. Even those of us who were genuine friends had to pray very hard, calculate seriously and mount a dutch courage before daring to visit Ange because you will be sure to find pa Edjua on his table reviewing his files. And you were sure to answer a series of questions and any show of doubtful motive will earn you a telling off! But once you are a genuine friend, he would discuss with you as a friend. Pa Edjua chated with the young as he would the old with a wonderful mastery of Bible, history and Tradition.
After a wonderful and successful Christian life, professional life, Married life and became a Senior Citizen of this country, it is right and fitting that you should rest!
Papa you "warmed up" and was ready to go back to the great beyond! Go well, Sleep in Peace and Rest!

The Wind Beneath our Wings |
April 4, 2013 |
My dear Andy,
You have been a friend, a brother, and a father for many many years. You have stood by us and made many sacrifices for us and the entire family for a long time. The Anyangwe and Besong families recognize your position in our families. The children have sought your advice on various aspects of their lives and you gave them. You were always there to encourage and support us.
After the passing away of my husband, Scott, your dearest friend, there were times when we thought we just could not go any further, there were times we thought everything came to a hault because we didn't know how to navigate through the problems that confronted us. But everytime we ran into those moments, we could count on you and you always pulled us through. Thank you immensely.
Early March, we discussed the traditional marriage of the youngest member of my family and even discussed my trip to the U.S. Immediately I got to the U.S., I called to inform you of my arrival. I was so shocked and disturbed to hear you say "Helen, I am in so much pain." The conversation was brief. I still believed that being in the Buea hospital, all was going to be well. Three days later, news of your death brought shock waves into my family. You had been moved to Yaounde and it happened there. Andy, the doctors treat and only God heals. The time had come for you to rest your body from all the pains. You have left May and I to continue taking care of the families. Thank God they are all grown-ups now.
Andy, you will be remembered by all you have done for this family of Scott Anyangwe. You were the wind beneath our wings.
Rest in Perfect Peace in His Bosom. Greet your dear friend, Scott, my husband.
Helen Anyangwe.
